Governor of NC Proclaims Amateur Radio Week

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina has more than 21,000 licensed Amateur Radio operators who have demonstrated their value in public assistance by providing emergency radio communications; and
WHEREAS, these Amateur Radio operators donate these services free of charge to the citizens of North Carolina and the world; and
WHEREAS, these Amateur Radio operators are on alert for any emergency, local or world-wide, and practice their communication skills during the Field Day exercise of the American Radio Relay League, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, this year's Amateur Radio Field Day will take place June 26-27, 2004;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MICHAEL F. EASLEY, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim June 20-27, 2004, as “AMATEUR RADIO WEEK” in North Carolina, and urge our citizens to pay appropriate tribute to the Amateur Radio operators of our State.
